October is a beautiful time to visit Crested Butte! We’re so excited to share some of our favorite activities, and local spots with you while you’re in town. Crested Butte has so much to offer, and we hope you’ll have time to explore and enjoy it during your stay!
Take a stroll down Elk Avenue to experience the wonderful shopping, restaurants, and art scene Crested Butte has to offer.
If you have a rental car you cannot miss a drive on Kebler Pass to see one of the largest Aspen groves in the US.
Brush Creek is a 4.3 mile hike that covers 315 feet of elevation and a great spot to see Aspen trees.
Judd Falls is a mellow trail a few miles up towards Gothic, it is a pleasant 1 mike hike each way.
Two routes lead to Long Lake, one mellow and one more strenuous. Either way, it’s worth the trip to this beautiful high alpine lake.
Oh Be Joyful is an out-and-back hike ranging from a few miles up to 11 miles, beginning along the Slate River.
Green Lake (Mt. Axtell) is a 9 mile hike that covers almost 2,000 feet of elevation gain but the views are worth it.
Scarp Ridge is a 4.3 mile hike that covers 1,500 feet of elevation gain. It has sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. A 4WD vehicle is recommended to access the trailhead.
